The Problem

Rising humidity is caused by the ability of water to penetrate the walls and rise from the ground upwards through the capillaries present in the materials constituting them. The water goes up the capillaries, until the forces at play find balance, and is then disposed of through the normal process of evaporation through the surface of the masonry.

This triggers a process of degradation of the elements that make up it, causing widespread presence of spots and saline efflorescences and detachments of plasters from the masonry.

The Solution

CIR provides a professional system for the creation of a CHEMICAL BARRIER capable of hydrophobicizing the capillaries of the materials present in the masonry. This prevents the water from rising, and with it the disruptive action of the salts it conveys.

CIR offers BARRIER ACQUA PLUS, a nanotechnological liquid system, highly effective and long-lasting, and BARRIER GEL, an injection gel system.

The intervention requires to make on the wall a series of small holes,through which the product is injected inside by gravity, through practical bottles, pre-dosed according to the thickness of the masonry.

In cases where the surfaces are covered with plaster, CIR provides for the restoration a system of plasters based on hydrated lime and natural pozzolans, totally compatible with the chemical barrier intervention.
